Portuguese PhD professor wins 2015 Children’s Literature Prize

    Sérgio Mendes, a Portuguese professor who holds a PhD in Physics, is the winner of the second annual “Pingo Doce Children’s Literature Award” with the short story “O caracol apaixonado” (“The passionate snail”), as announced at Sunday’s “Feira do Livro” in Lisbon.

    Created by the Pingo Doce company in collaboration with Alethêia Press, the Children’s Literature Prize has a monetary value of 50,000 euros, to be awarded and split between the award-winning author of the text as well as the illustrator of the book.
