In Fado Violado’s world, fado and flamenco had a baby and named it “A jangada de pedra”. The debut album by this Porto-based band was released this past Friday at Passos Manuel in Porto.
Ana Pinhal, fadista and lead singer of the band, is a promising new voice in a newer generation of Porto singers. On Spanish guitar is Francisco Almeida, composer/author of the original five tracks on the album. While the duo is at the core of this fado and flamenco merger, Pinhal and Almeida are well accompanied via the bass and “cajón” and chorus/“palmas espanhóis”.
