The City of Newark held a ceremony to unveil new Portugal Avenue street signs on Ferry Street in the city’s East Ward on June 8, at the intersection of Union and Ferry Streets.

The Portuguese community has played a vital role in the growth and development of the City of Newark. The City of Newark recognizes the many contributions of this community and is unveiling these Portugal Avenue signs, which will give Ferry Street a “second name” of Portugal Avenue, just in time for Portugal Day festivities in the Ironbound, a weekend filled with celebration of cultural heritage.
