Azores base still ‘fundamental’ to Atlantic security, US ambassador in Lisbon affirms

The US ambassador in Lisbon, George Glass, recently described the base at Lajes, in the Azores Islands, as “fundamental” to security in the Atlantic and said that the size of the missions there has been increasing.
