After working in Canada for 20 years, artistic-director Terry Costa moved to the island of Pico, in the Azores, where he decided to live. In the Azores, Costa worked with local people on theatrical presentations and then began a project that encourages Portuguese individuals and their descendants living outside Portugal, to invest in the country through their art. The project is called “Atlantes”.
The documentary, which was released on the internet one year after it was released to festivals, universities and art centres, shows some of the artists that were up for the challenge and went to the island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean to create poetry, music, paintings and more, during the Azores Fringe Festival 2013.
