American Indian tribe sues State of New Jersey over official recognition

    A civil rights lawsuit has been filed by NJ’s Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal Nation (based in Bridgeton; 3,000 members) this past Monday, July 20, against acting Attorney General John Hoffman. The native tribal nation is fighting to keep its legal recognition as an American Indian tribe with the state of New Jersey.
