Newark City Council approves new zoning despite strong community opposition

The Newark City Council voted 7 yes to 1 no (Augusto Amador) to approve the creation of a new MX3 Zone in Ironbound. The new zone was created for an area near McWhorter, Union St., Hamilton, and Railroad Ave. It will permit buildings to reach 12 stories.
